HISTORY

 

 

 

The firm was originally founded in 1966 by William J. LeBlanc, P.E.† for the practice of Professional Engineering, specializing in mechanical building systems.

 

In 1973, David Assaf III, P.E.† joined the practice, and the firm expanded professional services to include electrical power, lighting and communications.

 

In 1979, David Assaf III, P.E.† became a partner in the firm.

 

In 1985, the firm was incorporated.

 

In 1990, Kirk J. Simoneaux, P.E. and Christopher G. Tauzin, P.E.† became partners in the firm.

 

In 1995, the firm moved to its present office location.† The firm purchased and completely renovated the offices, which consist of specialized facilities for production and support spaces.

 

In 1998, after the retirement of William J. LeBlanc, P.E. , the firm changed its name to Assaf, Simoneaux, Tauzin & Associates, Inc.

 

In 2009, Michael D. Doyle, P.E. became a partner in the firm.

CURRENT STATUS

 

 

 

Assaf, Simoneaux, Tauzin and Associates, Inc. (AST) is a full service mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firm.† Projects have included design, production of contract documents and construction administration for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building automation, electrical distribution, lighting, telecommunication infrastructure, security and energy reduction systems, including central plants.† In addition to design, the firm has extensive experience in performing studies of all types, including energy audits of existing buildings to recommend energy saving measures.† Retrofit, upgrade and renovation projects comprise approximately 50% of the firmís work.

 

AST has been involved with a variety of projects ranging in cost from several million dollars down to relatively small projects.† These projects have included buildings and infrastructures associated with universities, school systems, medical facilities and office complexes.† The firm applies value engineering considerations to every project and strives to produce complete, accurate and properly coordinated design documents within agreed schedules and budgets.

 

The staff at AST has the special expertise required for commercial, educational, public and institutional projects.† Experience includes providing engineering services for several major state universities, office complexes and medical facilities, with work ranging through Canada, the Caribbean and 27 states of the U.S.

 

AST makes extensive use of computers in all of its operations.† The firm currently utilizes a Windows 2003 server network with redundant database storage for engineering analysis, word processing and CAD.† All drawings are produced utilizing AutoCAD.† Data exchange with clients is accomplished via the Internet through the use of both secure email and through the use of a secure company FTP site.†
